What is a Business Incubator?

Business incubation programs are designed to accelerate the successful development of entrepreneurial companies through an array of business support resources and services. A business incubation program’s main goal is to produce successful firms that will leave the program financially viable and freestanding.

KIC was established in order to provide growth-oriented companies, with essential business incubation services and access to industry-specific development resources through its connection to UAGM's academic and programmatic resources.

 The mission of the program is to devise and support university-industry partnerships that discover, develop, and deploy innovative products for the food, hospitality and tourism industries and to support business growth and economic development of the region.

Application qualifications

KIC searches for innovative entrepreneurs looking to expand their company and create an abundance of local jobs. Admission for startups, interested in participating in the program and occupying physical space at KIC, is dependent upon the following application qualifications:

1. A completed membership application and follow up interview with the advisory board
2. An innovative, business concept or technology-based product focused in the food, hospitality and tourism industries
3. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the financial capacity to cover operational expenses and fees for KIC services and use of facilities.
4. An interest and willingness to be associated with Universidad Ana G. Méndez. Applicants should express commitment with our stated mission and goals and a genuine interest in working with appropriate members of the university faculty and staff, advisory board and network of mentors.
5. A #KICstart attitude. We are a group of professionals participating in a network of industry and academic experts, truly committed to the success of our clients. KIC clients will be expected to be a part of that effort, involve themselves with other companies in the incubator, and participate in workshops, seminars, meetings and other activities.

At KIC we will guide accepted companies by establishing milestones to be achieved in the short and long term. Through regular meetings, the team will evaluate the client company needs and strategize on new ways to improve efficiency and business tactics. Through a knowledgeable mentor network and referral services to professionals in different areas, client companies will be able to scale in a faster and smarter way their business.
